I mentioned earlier that getting a good impedance match to the memory translation hardware was important. EROS was designed with hierarchical translation systems in mind, though we've done the design for other mapping structures.

The key insight is that a page table entry is a capability. The catch is to figure out how to turn this into something that can conveniently be written to the disk as part of the persistence architecture.
